SPIRITUAL HEALTH

Everything we do in life, have a direct influence on health – From how we feel about ourselves; how we handle stress; how much socialization we have in our lives; how we interact with self and others; how we communicate our emotions; to the kind of support system we have in place. Being “Healthy” doesn’t just encompass the physical aspect of life. Being “Healthy” encompasses the entire mental, emotional, spiritual and physical essence of our being.

Did you know that depression is a psychological disaster characterized by negative moods; such as feelings of sadness & despair, low self-esteem, pessimism, lack of initiative, and slowed thought processes. It can also involve disturbances in sleeping and eating patterns, as well as reduced sexual interest.

Many factors influence the onset and duration of a depressive episode-including social context, physiological processes and genetic inheritance.
The World Health Organization (WHO) defined “health” in 1946 as “a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being. Recent research efforts have focused on how the built-in environment and socio-economic status affect health. Health is the level of functional or metabolic efficiency of a living organism. In humans, it is the general condition of a person’s mind & body, meaning to be free from illness, injury or pain. The context in which an individual lives is of great importance for both health status and quality of life.It is increasingly recognized that health is maintained and improved not only through the advancement and application of health science, but also through the efforts and intelligent lifestyle choices of the individual and society.

In addition to health care interventions and a person’s surroundings, a number of other factors are known to influence the health status of individuals, including their background, lifestyle, economic and social conditions and spirituality; these are referred to as “determinants of health.” According to WHO, the main determinants of health include the social & economic environment, the physical environment, and the person’s individual characteristics and behaviors.

SPIRITUAL CARE

Spiritual self-care helps us to find and develop a sense of connection to a Higher Power and a more purposeful meaning for our lives. Spiritual therapy is an alternate form of freeing the mind of negative energies and replacing them with positive healing energy that restores both mind and body. It is also an analysis of one's own emotional and spiritual consciousness from a natural standpoint. Also known as holistic therapy, it encompasses every dimension from the physical to the mental. They include chants, aromatherapy, reflexology, crystal therapy, acupressure, meditation and audiovisual therapy.Certain individuals who suffer from mental depression or other emotional imbalances can rely on forms of spiritual therapy to help them overcome obstacles. This is a type of metaphysical healing that comes from recognizing one's own inner healing powers. In this type of therapy, the individual may place her beliefs in a supreme being for guidance or simply draw strength and beliefs from within. By gaining the self-confidence to feel empowered, this type of therapy can address many forms of distress such as grief, relationship issues or everyday stress.Just as it is essential to nurture your body with food, it is necessary to nurture your soul with quiet time. When we connect to our inner spirit, we awaken to reach our fullest potential. It's about living your truth and being true to yourself about who you are. You are more than just a body; you are a wonderful spirit here to spread your divine light. In acknowledging that we are more than just a body with a mind, we enter into a higher realm of consciousness, an awakening of the spirit within. An awakening, sometimes referred to as ‘a spiritual awakening’, is a moment of clarity in which a new insight or understanding is gained. With this new awareness the experience of life is seen differently and new possibilities are opened. Spiritual self-care is about peeling back the layers and really getting to know your true essence, your soul – who you really are. When we connect with our spirituality, wonderful things begin to happen. When we awaken, we are reminded of what’s really important in our lives, and gain and inner standing to our connection to nature. Spiritual self-care helps connect you to that still point within you, and helps you deal with the ups and downs of life with much greater ease – improving your chance for gaining self-empowerment to take control of your life, and increase the chance of living healthy.
