HEALTHY EQUITY - AFFORDABLE HOUSING PROGRAM

THIS PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO:

Raise awareness on the root causes of health inequities and health disparities.
Promote equal opportunities for all people to be healthy and to attain the highest level of health possible.
Distribute socio-economic resources needed to be healthy in a manner that progressively reduces health disparities and improves health for all people.
Provide continuous efforts to maintain a desired state of equity after avoidable healthy inequities and health disparities are eliminated

Purpose: This is a “health equity” basic needs program to eliminate socio-economic inequities in low-income families to help them meet the demands of basic needs and to build self-sufficiency.

Mission: To promote equal opportunities for all people to be healthy and to attain the highest level of health possible for optimal well-being.

Goal: To raise monies to purchase (4) foreclosed properties from the city of Milwaukee and to have them available for habitation by the middle of 2019 - placing (6) teen mothers and one child, and (6) black male felons residing in zip code 53206 and 53212 in the houses, paying only 10% of their net income for rent.

TRAUMA-INFORMED CARE & TREATMENT

(THE RESTORATIVE APPROACH)

Spiritual & Human Development for building Healthy Individuals, Healthy Families and Healthy Futures through:

Research — on trauma informed care and socioeconomic statuses and its effects on incarceration; health inequalities and health disparities on African-American and Hispanic populations.
Education and training - to decrease recidivism, manage and cope with anger, stress and depression; and to promote the benefits of well-being to influence behavioral changes.
Family-oriented services - to help low-income families attain equitable access to resources needed to manage and cope with anger, stress, and depress, as it relates to the effects of Traumatic Life Events.
Informed public policy - to promote and raise awareness on well-being and mental illness as a “Public Concern.”

The program is designed to provide Trauma Informed Care and Stress Management Treatment to individuals ages 8 to adults to help them begin coping with anger, stress, and depression.

What is Health Equity Savings?

Healthy People 2020 defines health equity as the "attainment of the highest level of health for all people." Our Affordable Health Equity" Savings Packages are designed to offer low-income individuals and families with the opportunity of "Equitable" access to receiving quality, adequate healthcare treatment and therapies needed to help manage anger, stress, and depression for optimal health & well-eing.

Why does it matter?

Everyone deserves a fair chance to lead a healthy life. No one should be denied this chance because of who they are or their socio-economic opportunities.

How do we work to achieve health equity?

To achieve health equity, we must eliminate avoidable health inequities and health disparities requiring short-and long-term actions, including:

Attention to the root causes of health inequities and health disparities, specifically health determinants, a principal focus of Healthy People 2020.
Particular attention to groups that have experienced major obstacles to health associated with socio-economic disadvantages and historical and contemporary injustices.
Promotion of equal opportunities for all people to be healthy and to seek the highest level of health possible.
Distribution of socio-economic resources needed to be healthy in a manner that progressively reduces health disparities and improves health for all.
Continuous efforts to maintain a desired state of equity after avoidable health inequities and health disparities are eliminated.
